To celebrate Divine Victory over the Jews in Gaza, Hamas terrorists have been busy torturing and killing Fatah members - their brothers - in Gaza. Needing party supplies, Hamas also siezed 63 Jordanian trucks loaded with humanitarian aid intended for the UN Relief and Works Agency in Gaza. Hamas, which seized control of Gaza during a brief but bloody civil war in 2007, appears to have emerged from the Israeli offensive with its authority in Gaza firm and its popularity growing in the West Bank. Yasser Abd Rabbo, an ally of the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, said at a news conference in Ramallah that Hamas had “turned its rifles in the direction of Fatah members” after Israel stopped its military offensive on Sunday. Mr. Rabbo accused Hamas of placing Fatah supporters under house arrest and shooting some of them in the legs, an intimidation tactic that it used in the past. Some Fatah members said in interviews that some of those being sought had been singled out for having handed out sweets in celebration of Israel’s war on Hamas. Many Fatah members and supporters said in interviews that Hamas might feel somewhat weakened by the Israeli offensive and was concerned that its political rivals not take advantage of the disorder created by the war. “They’re afraid that Fatah will take advantage of the chaos to come back to power,” the cousin said. “The message is: Stay at home. Be afraid. We didn’t lose power.” The Palestinian Authority's Minister of Social Welfare Affairs, Mahmoud Habbash, confirmed that Hamas had been torturing and executing Fatah members in the Gaza Strip during and after Operation Cast Lead. Nineteen Palestinians were murdered in cold blood by Hamas, Habbash said, while more than 60 others were shot in the legs. Musa Abu Marzouk, a top Hamas official in Syria, confirmed that his movement had executed "collaborators." He claimed Fatah members had taken to the streets to blow kisses at IAF planes and handed out candies as they attacked Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.
Qabil wa Habil The story of Cain (Qabil) and Abel (Habil) is told in the Qur'an (5:27-32). At Allah's insistence, Adam directed Qabil to marry Habil's sister; and Habil was to marry Qabil's sister. But Qabil was displeased with the partner chosen for him and refused; for Habil’s twin sister was not as beautiful as Qabil’s. Adam then told them to take their offerings to Allah, thereby referring the dispute to His determination. Qabil's offering was a sheaf of the very worst of his corn, but Habil's a fat lamb of the best of his flock. Qabil's sacrifice was rejected while Habil's was accepted, enraging Qabil. Allah having declared His acceptance of the latter in a visible manner, Qabil said to his brother, "I will certainly kill you." Though Habil was the stronger of the two, and would easily have prevailed against his brother, he answered, "God only accepts from those who fear. If you stretch forth your hand against me, to slay me, I will not stretch forth my hand against you to slay you, for I fear Allah, the Lord of all creatures. Verily, I wish that thou mayest draw upon thee my sin and thy sin, and be of the fellows of the Fire, for that is the reward of the unjust." So Qabil began to consider in what way he should effect the murder, and as he was doing so, the devil appeared to him in human shape, and showed him how to do it, by crushing the head of a bird between two stones. Qabil, having committed the fratricide, became exceedingly troubled in his mind, and carried the dead body on his shoulders for a considerable time, not knowing where to conceal it, till it stank horribly and he regretted his deed. Allah then sent a crow which scratched in the earth, to prompt Qabil to bury his brother. Seeing it, he said, "Alas, for me! Am I too helpless to become like this crow and hide my brother's shame?" And then Allah taught him to bury it by the example of a raven, who, having killed another raven in his presence, dug a pit with his claws and beak and buried him therein. It was on this account that God ordained for the Children of Israel that "if anyone slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people; and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people."Qabil Today How can Israel make peace with Hamas, the Qabil of today, when he has apparently not learned his lesson, but continues to kill his brothers? Allah would certainly reject his offering of dead Palestinians and Israelis. Hamas has declared its intention to rearm and acquire new rockets to employ against the Jews. Iran has promised to supply the terrorists with Fajr rockets which will be able to reach Tel Aviv. He who is busy murdering his brothers is certainly no partner for peace. Unless Qabil changes his ways there will be no end to the violence.Sources: Hanauer, J. E.; Folk-Lore of the Holy Land: Moslem, Christian, and Jew; London; The Sheldon Press, 1935), pp. 240-241.
